It is surely a proven fact that Home is where the heart is . But imagine a situation when the basis of a home is not harmonious hearts but disharmonious ones. Oh boy! That is one situation which is not only the hardest to live with but also difficult to mend. One such family in the state of Karnataka in India is strangely still united. Call it strange, bizzare or just plain co-incidence but this family has had a zillion violent episodes in their home. Yet , they continue as a family. The parents married after proudly calling their marriage ‘love marriage’ but ironically all they showed each other was dislike and hatred.
The first few years of marriage was pretty much normal and hunky – dory. But later on , as the children began growing up, the quarrels between the couple began aggrevating and thus each parent started blaming the other for their mistakes. This often lead to emotionaly intense and disturbing situations at home. It sometimes ended up in physical fights between the family members and ultimately destroying the peace at home. There are many reasons this could have happened. One of them being, that the since both parents were working professionals , one a Doctor and the other a Nurse. This made them leave their responsibility of baby sitting to, a maid , which in a course of many years, developed into an emotional gap between the children and parents, leading to sudden emotional outbursts between , parents and children even after they grew up. Besides this there could have been hundreds of differences between the couple which led to this.
One surely cannot blame the parents for this , as they have showed their responsibility by making alternate arrangements, but time sometimes takes its own toll on people and their lives. There were often times when the marriage almost ended in a divorce.
The children , in this case two sons , however did not develop hatred towards ecah other but suprisingly grew up to be supportive of each other. Although the elder son , had trouble in academics , to the extent of giving up his course due to troubles at home, the younger son did continue his studies and have a good career. He did well in his career, and also got married. But sometimes history has strange ways of repeating itself. The second son also married a girl of his choice unlike the traditional Indian way where the parents look for a bride for their son. But dropping out of an academic course in this case cannot purely be atrributed to the situation at home. This is because their elder son had realised his passion for something more creative in life. Luckily for him, the parents did support his passion even financialy. Thus it worked out positively for the child. However , situation in his home is still not smooth. He has crossed thirty , and still not married. He is struggling to settle in his career although he has confidence and has showed no drop in his talents. He knows that he’ll one day make it big!
Presently, the family of three live together under the same roof , but with emotional conflicts between , the elder son and his parents and only life and sincere efforts by the son to mend differences will determine further peace in their ‘HOME’. Untill then there only exists a physical structure they call a House.
